No Bentos for Friday

Because Thursday night I was Drunk!  hehehe hic!
We were invited by Pep and Ray to a soft launch of a new wine bar in Newtown!
Named the Wine Plate, its found on the western end of King street, towards the uni.   I am ashamed I didn't take a photo of  the gorgeous interior or the pretty light box.  But I did take photos of the lovely food!

Beetroot & Goats Cheese Parcels, Watercress Salad with a Balsamic Reduction
Worshipful.  Thinnest slices of steamed? beetroot with a pocket of goats cheese.  The beetroot still had its veggie crunch and the goats cheese was just a pop of heavenly goodness.  The balasmic reduction added a perfect touch of acidity to contrast the creamy cheese flavour.

Green Pea and Yellow Squash Risotto, Confit Tomato & Parmesan Crisps
Risotto as it should be - with a bite, not a crunch.  That was supplied by the paremesan crisps (a-finger-tap-nose-moment)  Creamy flavours with the squash giving the dish some fresh texture and the cherry tomatoes when popped, again the perfect amount of acidity to keep the palete fresh.

Moroccan Lamb Tagine with Dried Apricot and Raisin Cous-Cous
Ahh pink lamb!  Luxurious!  Lamb does have the most flavour of our usual butcher suspects and here it was brought out with a flair.  A kick of  Moroccan spices with chilli, added depth and drew out the meaty juices to add richness to the Cous-cous, gem-studded with Dried Apricot and plump Rasins.

Spiced Carrot Cake, Vanilla Ice-cream w/Honey & Ginger Syrup
Warm Dark Chocolate Tart with Creme Analgise and French Vanilla Icecream

Good thing about going as a couple is that you get to try both desserts!  *happy smiles*    The carrot cake with its warm cinnamon spice and Honey Ginger syrup made for a cuddly dessert, while the Dark Chocolate cake was like a buff man without his shirt, delicious, totally lick-able and richly-decadent enough to make a girl think twice - naughty or nice.
Note: The girls thoroughly enjoyed their chocolate tarts

We wish Sharon and Maria all the success with their first opening night on the 22nd of November
