Link: Colorlovers.com

No Bentos today. Crazy with Christmas Fever.
So I'm sharing, what I think is the best colour/product/inspiration site ever!

Colorlovers.com is in their words:
COLOURlovers is a creative community where people from around the world create and share colorspalettes and patterns, discuss the latest trends and explore colorful articles... All in the spirit of love.
This website is perfect for a crafter who likes to personalise, there are millions of seamless patterns to which you can apply colours!  Perfect for any event.  As they say, half of the gift is in  the wrapping, and with this website and a printer, you are going to be the coolest gift giver ever!

Hint: Add an envelope lining for that extra sha-zam. ^^

Here are two items where I have used personalised colorlover patterns

Guest Names for Cups
Chopstick Wrappers for Steamboat
But the reason for being on this website is for another project!  I'll post next week and show you what I've done!

Three Alarmed Pigs

First Pig: Quick! Christmas is coming! HIDE!
Second Pig: OMG! I haven't bought my KK present!
Third Pig: "Deck the halls, with boughs of holly"
First Pig: I'll "DECK" you in a sec! Now MOVE!

I do seem to have a great liking for alarmed faces, but the bottom one looks like he's singing carols.

Koala bear bento

Well its not really a bear, so it requires a little explanation.  The Koala is an Australian native marsupial.  They only eat gum leaves and rarely drinks water.  The net result is although they are cute with their oversized ears and noses, furry and no sharp angles, they do have a concentrated aroma, and frankly they are nicer curled up asleep in a tree.

Shooting Star Bentos

These friendly stars are always willing to stop for a chat. Look! One even has green shoes! What a trend-setter!

Movember Bentos

In Australia, there is a significant rise in the number of male 70's porn stars during the month of November. The reason for the saucy increase is The Movember movement,  when men sport living entities on their upper lips to raise funds and awareness for men's health issues, especially prostate cancer and depression.

Upstyling Babybel Cheese

The internet is an amazing source of info!   What did we do without it?  Seriously! life would be soooo BORING! hehehe ^^

I am so grateful because I found Tiffany's Blog: Cute Food for Kids And she has excellent upstyling of Babybel Cheese rounds

Essential kit items: Nori punches

I'm no paper cut artist.  Nor do I have the time. So an essential equipment to have in your bento kit is some nori punches.  Wanna see mine?

No Bentos for Friday

Because Thursday night I was Drunk!  hehehe hic!
We were invited by Pep and Ray to a soft launch of a new wine bar in Newtown!
Named the Wine Plate, its found on the western end of King street, towards the uni.   I am ashamed I didn't take a photo of  the gorgeous interior or the pretty light box.  But I did take photos of the lovely food!

Too Cute Fruit

Too Cute Fruit
I found this while surfing for cute fruit. Well if it's cute why wouldn't you eat it?
I like the zebra. I never thought carving the Eggplant would make such contrast! I would try it with Zucchini, Cucumber too. But raw might be a problem... hrm.
must ponder some more.

check out more. Carl Kleiner

Captain T to the rescue!

Quick! Send out the T signal!

Hooray! Here comes Captian T!  He'll save the day!

All edible bar the foil that is suppose to be water - i do draw a line at blue.

New Character: Captian T

Meet Captian T,  a newly created character.   In the mornings Steph and I watch the Today Show, which is hosted bya crazy/funny guy called Karl and the lovely lady with a heart of gold called Lisa.  There are other crew members including Steve, Dickie and Richard who make the it all a bright and funny show.

So I made this bento for the Today T's which they show of people doing a T-sign with their hands.  The banded eyes and cape just came as I was designing.

What do you think?   I rather like him!  and plan to do a series of him doing heroic things :)

Stay tuned!

Pasta love

Using two new bento boxes today.  I bought these on my crazy excursion to Diaso. $2.80!  far cry from the $8+ I would have to fork out for some pretty tupperware.

Some leftover pasta from dinner, with heart yellow peppers, red cabbage, carrots, snow peas.

Side dishes include quail eggs, cherries, apple rabbits, and crumbed chicken slices.

Pasta seasoned and drizzled with olive oil, with heart veggies, a snowpea divider keeps the cherries, rabbit apples and quail eggs away

Kitchen tip: organza dusting

I had a brainwave!
I spooned some flour into a organza bag and presto! its a cheap flour dusting tool!
Goodbye to days of scraping dough off my hands to reach for more flour!  Now i just pick up the ribbons and shake away!
And the flour tin lid doubles up as a plate for my flour sprinkler, reducing waste and spillage while travelling.

Works for icing sugar too!

Bad Bertha

Isn't happy with the array of food before her.  She expected so much more.

Farm inspired bento

Tried the art of rolling bread. Fail. Big fail. But the two best ones became hills and the rest fell into place
Quail eggs make great chooks and the veggie patch complete the perfect picture of rural living

Goldilocks and the three bears bento set

Boys requested sandwiches.  Guess they were sick of rice ^^
I made the sandwiches, but I had no decoration intent, until I saw all my bear face cutters. The rest just fell into place from there.

Might do a fairy tale set.
But I'll skip Snow White... 7 dwarves!!! Really. 3 would have been fine!

Rabbit bento

Simple - vinegar rice, shapped and spooned into a rabbit. The pink ears made by ham and the eyes and bit made with nori.  Some salad greens shows u that he's playing in the park.

In the top tier we have some crunchy sprouts, beetrood dip, in a mushroom cup. Steamed carrots leftover from Stephs amazing pork belly dinner. Some quiche from my bento stash, and some boiled quail eggs. It was tasty and filling!

Face bentos

Susie and Kelly are happy that its Monday.  They are flying today down to Hobart.

They skipped past the brocolli brush and past the radish mushroom, over the grape tomato pebbles by the tamago (egg) fence.

Their pink cheeks rosy as they shared a mini cupcake. It looked like a golden field, of Farmer Joe's planted corn.

The springy vanilla sponge was a perfect treat to remember the day.

Face expressions

Eyebrows say a lot don't they?

Lisa looks worried but with her raised eyebrow she questions you. Are you a good bento maker today?

Buddy is just plain happy. Nothing inside, mind is open wide. ^^

Lisa and buddy come with asparagus with black sesame seeds, tamago. On the 2nd tier rabbit apples, salad and grape tomatoes, with muscleman and seal picks. Tomatoes require heavy lifting! ^^

Jazzy hands

Momo winks and gives freely. Enjoy the moment, taste innocent flirty girl love.

Very simple bento made with leftovers.  Momo really makes the difference here.  A sweet ham face
Mittens made with cheese modified cut heart (tip trimmed).

Pause.

She needs hair.

Sugar art

My first attempt!  Not too shabby me thinks, but I do need practice gluing bits together, aim is seamless.

So far I'm squashing as I press.  I'll try with rough texture where the parts join. And trust the tylose ^^

Bento backgrounds

Lindcraft sells patches of fabric called fat quarters.  They're used to make quilts.

However, they make excellent bento wraps! Plus they make a little tablecloth for a touch of fine dining at lunch.

Simple bento

I make chickpea flour fritattas in the weekend. They are a bit salty ^^ so they go well with something bland.

Added some nuggets and chopped salad greens and cherry tomatoes.

The little bottle has reduced balsamic dressing.

There's lots of protien in this bento so u will be suprised at how full u feel after eating this!

Kitty bento

I made this for a colleague who loves cats.

2 rice balls filled with sweet potatoes and sausage cubes, surround by herb leafe salad and a tube of reduced balsamic dressing.

Bottom layer has a mini salad of dutch carrots, ecucumber, grape tomatoes and baby bocochini, a veggie fritatta (I made heaps^^) and some mandarin segments

Love rolls bento

I found new chapters of hatsukoi lunch box manga!!  And I'm inspired!

New decor bento boxes

The depth is good! Means less filling and the garnishes aren't squashed.

Cherry toms and strawberries (in season) add a splash of colour.
The nori roll is filled with seasoned rice and scrambled egg.

There's suppose to a sausage heart filling but my hand cut one look imperfect so a cheese circle (bless processed cheese) and a heart cut out hides my mangled attempt.

One of the bentos has malteaser balls as well!  Someone's going to get lucky. ^^

Photographed with all my heart cutters.  I have a few......^^
But love comes in all sorts of shapes and colours yes?

I want to collect them all!

Then name one person who wouldn't love to have this printed large and framed on wall!!! Which one? I love all of them. but being a solid colour kinda girl, I think Modernism edges out. Just.
