Mr Yeast Bento

JMak linked me to a very cute and nutzy anime called Moyashimon. (Thanks J!!!)

The series is about a boy who sees the micro-organisms that float around us. The series is very cute and it inspired this bento.

This critter is a Aspergillus Oryzae -tan or a yeast bacteria, used to brew sake, soya sauce and miso. info

I fell in love with the critter as soon as I saw it bopping merrily along with the OP theme! So cute!!! hehehe! You can watch it here!

I've picked up a few photos from the internet and added them to the collage.

Made from a massive onigiri stuffed with furiake, and pork floss, wrapped in a thin egg crepe. Eyes are made from Nori and the mouth from Waxed paper. 2 boneless chickenwings and some lettuce surround Mr Yeast.

I made Ed watch the first episode, and hes completely entranced. Hes looking forward to eating Oryzae-Tan tommorrow!

Learning Cantonese

Like all kids you always learn the naughty words first...

Today I taught Steph the canto word for "stinky". The funny thing is that it sounds the Italian word for goodbye - ciao!

So adding it to all the other Chinese that he has learnt, he should know was the following means:

"Ai-yah! Sup Farn Ho ciao!"

Hehehe

Afternoon tea at Plan B

Coffee is good. company is great and the cakes are godsends.
This one (apologies for the shocking photography!) is a chocolate mouse with a caramel centre and a mint biscuit base. it had 3 blueberries and then coated with a rich dark chocolate ganache.

We called it the choclate mousse with the blue berry nipples... being decadent dessert, i had to quote Allo Allo and "The Fallen Madonna with the Big Boobies by Van Clomp" which even has its own wiki entry. heheh.

Maybe Becasse and Plan B will get one too :)

A morning of discovery

After flipping through our Flickr this morning after uploading a panoramic photo I put together this morning from our recent trip to Dora Creek

Dora Creek

I came across this cool section of the site where photos that have been Geo-Tagged, can be viewed in sequence by recent uploads, and by popularity.

Just by accident I've found this cool set creator called, Flickr Set Manager that creates a set based on criteria of your choosing.

I naturally created one based on popularity of our photos.

Enjoy :O)

Dessert: Wasaby

If you ever feel like beautiful japanese food, you need to try Wasaby Restaurant on York St, behind QVB.

I tried the dessert, which was a delicious combination, red beans, a delicioius pudding made of soft tofu and cream, an orange segment, and some sweet agar jelly, all combined with a sweet sauce.
