Who would've thought...

Weird ban... Definitely, I don't understand it

Happy Vegemites? We don't think so
Sunday Hearald Sun 22.10.2006
The bizarre condiment crackdown was prompted because Vegemite has been deemed illegal under US food laws.

The great Aussie icon -- faithfully carried around the world by travellers from Down Under -- contains folate, which under a technicality, the US allows only to be added to breads and cereals.

I wonder if Promite and other variations have been banned also.

Expats throughout the States will be devistated.

We went all over on Sunday to try and find it, and its been removed from every import store in town. They do still have marmite on the shelves though. Shane is totally devestated - cause we can't even get it mailed to us. He's gonna have to give it up cold turkey!

but Shane shouldnt! Australians Stand for your Rights! Vegemite is gold! and part of our cultral history. What about the free trade agreement. bad because its got folate? Sheesh! NOW THAT is a poor excuse.
